As an important friend of the World Resources Institute, and I am pleased to share exciting news with you on the eve of our 30th Anniversary.
WRI’s Board of Directors has named Dr. Andrew Steer as our next president.
Andrew is a highly-recognized and respected leader of environment and human development issues, with a breadth of expertise in the international arena. He brings a passion and profound sense of urgency to our goal of creating a more sustainable world for people and the planet. Andrew is currently the Special Envoy on Climate Change at the World Bank. He also serves on UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s High Level Panel on Sustainable Energy for All and on the B20 Board on Green Growth (the private sector wing of the G20).
This transition comes at a key moment in WRI’s growth and evolution, as we pursue our mission of finding solutions to today’s most pressing environment and human development challenges. In recent years, WRI has deepened our engagement in China and India, and we are active in 40 additional countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
