<p class=23_August_2013: The sixth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Informal Working Group (the Working Group) to study issues relating to the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity beyond areas of national jurisdiction (BBNJ) aimed to identify gaps and ways forward with a view to ensuring an effective legal framework on BBNJ, drawing on inputs provided by intersessional workshops that were held in early May 2013 to improve understanding of BBNJ issues and lead to a more productive debate in the Working Group. continued…

23_August_2013: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has launched a report titled ‘Green Economy Modelling Report of South Africa – Focus on Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, Transport and Energy Sectors,’ developed with technical assistance from the Millennium Institute and the Sustainability Institute, in collaboration with the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies of the Stellenbosch University. The study assesses the impacts of green investments in four of the country’s key economic sectors: agriculture, energy, transport and natural resource management. continued…
