The Restorative Leadership® Institute Honored as ‘Best for Communities’
Best at Improving Quality of Life, per B Lab
LONGMONT, COLORADO – 19 November, 2013 – Today, The Restorative Leadership® Institute (RLI) was recognized by the nonprofit organization B Lab for its positive impact on improving the quality of life.
A certified B Corporation (B Corp), RLI cultivates leadership and enterprise that fulfills humanity’s potential for elevating the quality of life on earth for all.
“This award validates the extraordinary work and leadership of those we have the privilege of serving — individuals and organizations striving for a sustainable future and a vision of the best possible life for all,” says RLI owner Dr. Seana Steffen.
Guy Williams, ceo of DWEJ, a Detroit organization advancing sustainable redevelopment, explains why RLI is best for the communities DWEJ serves: “Through the help of RLI, we have begun to build a new operational model that will inspire work locally and regionally. This model could potentially serve as a global framework for organizations that aspire to have a high impact in pursuit of their missions.”
The ‘B Corp Best for Communities List’ created by the B Lab (www.bcorporation.net), honors businesses that earned an overall score in the top 10% of all Certified B Corps around the world for their positive impact on their communities.
Each honoree is a Certified B Corp, a new type of company that uses the power of business for good and meets rigorous standards of overall social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Today there are more than 850 Certified B Corps across more than 60 industries in 28 countries.
Other B Lab awarded honorees include Greyston Bakery, well-known for supplying brownies to Ben & Jerry’s and its open-hiring policies. Thirty percent of honorees are based outside the United States, with some in emerging markets, like a telecommunications company in Afghanistan (Roshan), an internet cafe and job training company in Brazil (CDI Ventures S/A), and an investor in smallholder farmers in Kenya (Juhudi Kilimo).
