Ethical MarketsGreen Prosperity

Dear Global Status Report Contributors and Reviewers,

After seven successful editions of the REN21 Renewables Global Status Report (GSR), we are now looking ahead to its next edition. In the event that you have not yet seen the GSR2012, you can download the full report and the key findings of the report at www.ren21.net/GSR.

The Renewables 2013 Global Status Report is scheduled for release in early June 2013 and in order to maintain the high quality and comprehensiveness of the report, the REN21 Secretariat has already begun the process for its production. Please find enclosed the planned structure of the report.

For the upcoming edition, Janet Sawin will continue in her role as Research Director and Lead Author of the Global Status Report. In addition, we are in the process of collaborating further with section specific contributors for each major chapter and technology while simultaneously strengthening the community of the existing contributors and reviewers to the Global Status Report, but also to the Renewables Interactive Map.

We hope that you will all be able to collaborate with REN21 on the Renewables 2013 Global Status Report and the Renewables Interactive Map.

The REN21 Renewables Interactive Map (www.map.ren21.net) furthers the perspectives provided in the GSR by enabling access to constantly updated market and policy information and detailed exportable databases at a country level. In order to maintain the high standards of the GSR in the map we request all of you to kindly review the data showcased on the map. Please access the REN21 Map Widget (www.map.ren21.net/ren21map.html) to find a country of your choice and expertise and send us all additions, corrections or updates on the country profiles to map@ren21.net.

GSR reviewers
For those of you who exclusively contribute as reviewers, this message is just to let you know that we have begun work for the 2013 edition. The review process for next year’s report will be similar to the process for this year’s report, with a first round of review in February 2013 for the policy, rural energy and features sections along with the sidebar; and another review round at the start of April 2013 for the market, industry and investment related text and data. We will provide you with two weeks advance notice so that you can set aside time to review the drafts. We rely greatly on your input to the report in both these review rounds and appreciate your continued engagement with the Global Status Report.

GSR researchers & contributors
For those of you who are contributors, we look forward to working with you over the next several months! We will need the same type of information that was covered in the previous reports.

  • A first round of information, on noteworthy trends and on policy and industry developments, is requested by 16 December 2012.
  • A second round of information, focusing on market data, is requested by 25 February 2013.

Following these data collection periods, there will be follow-up communication and review through April 2013.

If you have participated as a country researcher or contributor of other data and information in past years, we look forward to your response acknowledging the receipt of this email and confirming your participation. If you will not be able to contribute to the 2012 report, please let us know by 30 November 2012 and suggest an alternative contributor if possible.
