This side event workshop will present the only resource guide for Indigenous People’s engagement with corporations, developed by Indigenous Peoples in collaboration with socially-responsible investors. The guidebook,”Indigenous Peoples Guidebook: Free Prior Informed Consent and Corporate Standards”, uses Free, Prior, and Informed Consent as a framework and presents key developments in industry and international standards to hold corporations and investment bodies responsible for upholding, respecting, and implementing the rights of Indigenous Peoples. Participants will have an opportunity to review and use the resource guide and provide feedback and evaluation.
The workshop will be moderated by FPW Founder and President Rebecca Adamson, along with other leading experts, including Myrna Cunningham, UNPFII Chair, 2011-2013; Andrea Carmen, Executive Director of International Indian Treaty Council; Chief Edward John, UNPFII Member; and Shelley Alpern, Vice President, Trillium Asset Management Corporation, and Social Investment Leader.
This event requires a Side Event Pass. Side Event Passes will be distributed on the day of the workshop, May 16. Further instructions will be sent upon RSVP, no later than May 10.
