Have You Heard? Fishermen’s Energy LLC Wins $47M U.S. Grant!

Company executives, environmentalists and lawmakers have hailed the grant by the U.S. Department of Energy as a boost toward New Jersey becoming one of the first states in the nation to develop offshore wind power. Read about this news here.

Energy Ocean, the premier offshore renewable energy event, June 3-5, 2014, will feature Paul Gallagher, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel at Fishermen’s Energy as a speaker on a panel discussing New Jersey’s Renewable Initiatives. Gallagher will speak to the impact of this recent economic development.

A statement released by the DOE said Fishermen’s project would “act as a laboratory for researchers to learn about offshore wind and investigate interactions between turbines.”

According the The Record, aside from BPU approval, a spokeswoman for Fishermen’s Energy said the company has all federal and state permits necessary to begin construction immediately. If the BPU were to approve the project immediately, construction in Atlantic City would commence onshore in 2015, followed by offshore construction in 2016.

“This will force the BPU’s hand to reconsider its decision,” said Doug O’Malley, Director of Environment New Jersey and Keynote speaker at Energy Ocean in his session From Dream to Fruition: Accelerating the Future of Ocean Energy through Collaboration and Dedication. “It gives real life back to Fisherman’s Energy.”
