INTRODUCTION
We are proud of our many accomplishments this year. While we are still working our way into the black, the work we have done to Transform Finance and facilitate the Green Transition has been immense. We are grateful to our entire team.
The following report is in chronological order of events.
JANUARY
Trust Across America-Trust Around the World (TAA-TWA) has again selected Hazel Henderson as one of 2014’s Top 100 Thought Leaders in Trustworthy Business. “The honorees are inspiring organizations to look more closely at their higher purpose…to create greater value for, and trust from, all of their stakeholders. They understand that trust is an asset that can leverage real business gains. We congratulate all of our honorees whose work is shining a spotlight on the importance of trust and providing a roadmap for others to follow,” says Barbara Kimmel, TAA-TWA executive director.
The full list of honorees can be found here.
The monograph, “Mapping the Global Transition to the Solar Age: from Economism to Earth Systems Science,” by Hazel Henderson, will be launched in London at Britain’s House of Lords, February 11, 2014. We are happy to announce our collaboration with Stuart Williams and his company Endobility to host several Ethical Markets research conferences throughout the year. Limited to 200 attendees, there is still room to register. The next event, Finding Ethical Alpha, will be held in St. Augustine/Jacksonville, May 4-6, 2014. More information forthcoming.
We are also excited to announce collaboration with Cosimo Publishing for an Ethical Markets imprint focusing primarily on out-of-print books showcasing important and meaningful works that support our mission to reform markets and metrics while helping accelerate and track the transition to the green economy worldwide. We want to broaden awareness for a worldwide audience of the authors, research and concepts which have been the foundation of sustainability and the green economy.

The 2014 Green Transition Scoreboard® finds, with $5.3 trillion in private investments and commitments since 2007, the green economy is on track to reach $10 trillion in investments by 2020 to effectively scale innovations and reduce costs in green technologies. The report Plenty of Water! covers the many water investment opportunities available as global policy makers, businesses and civic society realize water is critical to environmental, social and human capital, and must be integrated into financial markets rather than overlooked as an externality.
Mapping the Global Transition to the Solar Age: from Economism to Earth Systems Science, by Hazel Henderson, was launched at a well-attended seminar in London, February 11, 2014. The work tracks new paradigms reintegrating knowledge as new tools and metrics expand human awareness of accelerating planetary changes. Our colleagues at ICAEW and Tomorrow’s Company co-published the monograph, with Foreword by Dennis Bushnell, Chief Scientist, NASA Langley Research Centre.

OCTOBER
We are celebrating our 10th Anniversary! Congratulations to Hazel Henderson, Founder and President, for her prescience in founding a media company in 2004 which focuses on the good news about the sustainable, inclusive green transition to the Solar Age, missed by mainstream media and now finally gaining traction. During the past ten years, Ethical Markets’ mission has evolved from reporting the good news to continuing Hazel’s active hand in reforming markets and metrics while helping accelerate and track the transition to the green economy worldwide. While a challenge to capture all the invaluable work done over the past ten years, read the highlights which attest to the depth of leadership Hazel Henderson and Ethical Markets have offered to sustainability, finance and emerging economies.
Green bonds added to the $5.7 trillion privately invested in the green economy since 2007 – reported in the Green Transition Scoreboard®. The 2014 mid-year update “Green Bonds Growing Green Infrastructure” focuses on the bond markets’ addition of green, impact and ESG targeted bond issues. These new bonds provide long-term investment opportunities to pension funds and other institutional investors as global policy makers, corporations and asset managers see demand for investments in infrastructure, environmental, social and human capital being integrated into financial markets. This confirms the green economy is on track to reach $10 trillion in investments by 2020 to effectively scale innovations and reduce costs in green technologies as the world transitions to the Solar Age.
Films Media Group, the distributor for Ethical Markets videos to educational markets around the world, has made the third season of the series Transforming Finance a featured release in their Fall Business & Economics catalogue. Ethical Markets 5: Transforming Finance 3.0 is described in the catalogue as “a 14-part series where author and visionary economist Hazel Henderson continues Ethical Markets’ mission to promote the emergence of a sustainable, green, more ethical and just economy worldwide.” The series features discussions between Hazel Henderson and world-renowned experts such as Ellen Brown (Public Banking Institute), Amy Domini (Domini Social Investments), Michael Grunwald (senior correspondent, Time Magazine), Terry Mollner (Ben & Jerry’s), Michaela Walsh (Women’s World Banking) and many others.
The Jury and Council of Board Members of the World CSR Congress (www.worldcsrcongress.com) will confer on Hazel Henderson the Global Sustainable Leadership Award at the World CSR Day (www.worldcsrday.com), February18, 2015, at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. The Award is based on Hazel’s “strategic and iconic leadership and contribution to society.” The theme for the Congress is Connecting Minds: Creating The Future.
