*Business Leader Public Relations Initiatives
ASBC has received a grant to strengthen your media presence and that of your business leaders.
Let us Help Tell your Story to the Press
If you and your business leaders would like to be part of speaking out for good regulations, creating jobs and building a sustainable economy, please send your candidate’s Name, Business/Organization, Contact Information, a brief business profile, and any information about how your business was created or grew because of good regulations to: policy@asbcouncil.org.
We will be providing general media training over the next several months and will update you as plans solidify.
Media training for TV
Part of the grant to ASBC will support a TV/media training for a very small group of business leaders. The tentative date for this all-day training in Washington DC is October 21st. A description of the training can be viewed here, criteria for selection to participate in the training here. Please submit your application by Tues. Oct. 3rd to be considered.
Business Leader Needed to Testify for a Capital Hill Briefing on Regulations
A briefing for Hill staff on Tues. Oct 3 in Washington DC is being planned. We’ve been asked to find a small businessperson to speak. The pushback against all regulations is mounting, so we are trying to step up our efforts to protect good regulations. We are looking for a business that was formed or really grew due to regulation.
Do you have a business leader who meets those criterion? Please contact David Levine dlevine@asbcouncil.org as soon as possible.

Campaign Updates (To Pass on to Members)
* Climate Change & Energy
Sign-on Letter: Urge President Obama to Adopt EPA’s proposed Ozone Standards
ASBC is disappointed with the Obama Administration’s decision to withdraw the proposed EPA ozone rule on Sept 2nd. We believe the Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards should move forward without delay, as recommended by the EPA. This fall we expect to see an active fight in Congress to maintain the right of the EPA to protect clean air and water; the ozone rule is just one of many regulations under attack. Read ASBC’s letter to President Obama.
Email Richard Eidlin to sign-on no later than Wed. Sept 21st.
* Business for Democracy
Help us reach 1000 business supporters by signing our Statementopposing unlimited secret corporate money in elections through a constitutional amendment. We are less than 200 away from reaching our goal!
Business for Democracy, with partner Free Speech for People, is seeking business leaders concerned about money in politics to write and speak in support of state level resolutions in Massachusetts, Washington and New Mexico. Contact Aquene Freechild for info.
* Chemical Policy
We are happy to announce that there are additional cosponsors to the Safe Chemicals Act with the addition of Senators Sanders and Leahy. We want to acknowledge the work of our Partner, Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility, for working with their Senators to support this important legislation. If you’d like work with ASBC to encourage your Senator, please contact us atpolicy@asbcouncil.org.
