GlobalJax is Moving

We’re not going far but starting next week, GlobalJax will be located at the WJCT building near Everbank Field in downtown Jacksonville! The new office affords more space and allows us to be in a downtown location that is convenient for our staff, members, and visitors.  Find out more here and then be on the look-out for information for a members-only open house to be scheduled later this month.

 

Announcing Wines of the World 2014

Wines of the World, our signature and much anticipated annual event is coming back bigger and better than ever. This year you can expect to taste the flavors of even more regional cuisines and wines, enjoy more entertainment and score some excellent silent and live auction deals (including once in a life time travel). International Resource Directory

GlobalJax is partnering with the University of North Florida to grow the International Resource Directory. Please submit any resources, regular events and festivals you want to add here.

 

Hosts Needed for Global Cooking Nights

Interested in having learning more about Iraq, Eritrea, Cuba, Afghanistan or Burma? GlobalJax, in partnership with Welcoming America and the local Refugee Service Agencies are looking for home hospitality hosts for International Cooking Nights for National Welcoming Week. Foreign Exchange Opportunity for Young Professionals

GlobalJax partner, World Learning, is looking for American participants ages 24-40 for a two-way exchange between the U.S. and Turkey. Participants must be willing to travel to Turkey for 11 days in August and host a Turkish participant in your home for 5-6 days in November. For more information, contact Andrea.

Volunteer Interpreters Needed for Summer Girls Camp

The Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center is looking for volunteers who can interpret in Arabic, Burmese or Nepali for a few weeks this summer. For more information please contact Ms. Bozena Bakula and let her know GlobalJax sent you.

 

Telecommunications Issues Resolving This Week

After several weeks of ongoing issues with our telephone lines and internet service we are switching service providers and should be able to accept phone calls and have regular access to email communications again early next week. If you have been trying to reach us, we apologize for the inconvenience. 

Facebook Contest

GlobalJax is close to reaching our 500th “Like” on Facebook! So to celebrate, when we reach that mark, we will choose at random one of our fans to win a $30 Starbucks giftcard. So spread the word and LIKE us today to be put in the drawing!  

Change of Staff

The arrival of summer brings four new interns to our team. We are excited to welcome Lauren Gibson from Florida Southern College in Lakeland and Tyler Hadden, Julia Londero and Alex Quinn from UNF.
